“Take Care” is actually a remake of a Jamie xx’s remix of the legendary, late Gil Scott-Heron’s “I’ll Take Care of U.” Jamie xx, a member of the Mercury Award-winning English group the xx, remixed Scott-Heron’s 2010 album I’m New Here last year, creating We’re New Here.
The producer 40 said he and the team at OVO felt “I’ll Take Care of U” never got its deserved shine, so they asked Jamie for the files so they could “take this song and make it go.
“What a great record! How come this song was never as big as it should’ve or could’ve been?” 40 said of Jamie xx’s remix.
“Drake had asked me to find him a pocket to rap on, so we programmed the drums and got him a place where he could at least flow and have a little bit of a bounce,” he added.
After a few tweaks, the two had a new record, but they wanted to add something extra. 40 thought Rihanna, with her background and her history with Drake, was an obvious choice to make the song what it is.
“Who else do you put on it?” he said. “There’s not a lot of young females out there right now, and on top of that, the story is just brilliant between the two of them, and it’s believable and it works and it’s real.”

The song, which already represents Rihanna’s longest residence at No. 1 on the Hot 100, matches Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” in early 2010 for the longest time tallied atop the Hot 100 for any song since the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” racked 14 weeks on top in summer 2009.
On Radio Songs, “Love” rules for an eighth week (152 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS), granting Rihanna her longest reign on the list as a lead act, besting the seven-week domination of her “What’s My Name?,” featuring Drake, early last year. She also ties her longest stranglehold atop the chart overall, having spent eight weeks at No. 1 on Radio Songs as a guest on T.I.’s “Live Your Life” in 2008-09 and Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” in 2010.
On Digital Songs, “Love” descends 2-4 with 185,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
With its return to No. 1 on the Hot 100, “Love” dethrones LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It” after two weeks in the penthouse. “Sexy” slips 1-3 on Digital Songs (212,000, down 49%) and 3-5 on Radio Songs (98 million, down 1%).

“I was just talking to Rihanna about that, because she [originally] made an [just an] interlude. I was like, “Your fans are going to be so mad at you.” As soon as I said that, I got back, and I guess she released a piece of it, and they saw how long it is. Man, they tore me up on Twitter! So I hit her on the phone. I was like, “Yo, your fans, they’re going crazy on me right now, like I could make you do something.” So ‘Birthday Cake’ is on there. It’s going to turn into a whole song because the fans are ganging up on me, and I don’t want to be murdered by the Rihanna Navy!
There’s another record I did with her called ‘Red Lipstick,’ and another song called ‘Do Ya Thang,’ which is probably [one of] the more lighter records on there. I was more called in to fill in the blanks. She’s just so great at putting her records in. She did a great job utilizing what [songwriter] Ester Dean does, who is like my little sister, for this album. I think she has six or seven records on that album. Dean is locked in to what Rihanna’s doing at this particular moment, which is great. I’m at a place where you can call me in as a songwriter, but Ri calls me in as a friend that’s going to make an unbiased decision, not just because I’m trying to get on the record. If it doesn’t need me on the record, I’m not going to get on the record.”

Australian Music Report say that a new version of ‘Talk That Talk’ will release and will feature Rihanna, Jay-Z and Kanye West. The track will be the third single from Rihanna’s album and it’s not known where Kanye will feature on the single remix.
The group Cover Drive, who release their new single ‘Twilight’ later this month, supported RiRi on her ‘Loud’ tour but were too afraid to ask if they could work together.
“She was so beautiful and so nice,” lead singer Amanda told Capital FM. “But we didn’t dare ask.”
